Facebook! You’ve got 48 hours to stop tracking people

Facebook has been ordered to stop tracking people that don’t have accounts with it in the next 48 hours or face daily fines of 250,000 euros.

The decision by a Belgian court follows a case brought by the country’s privacy watchdog earlier this year in which it argued that the social media company was tracking everyone that visited pages hosted on its website, regardless of whether they were users of the service.

If users “like” or share a Facebook page, they also have a cookie installed in their browser, whether or not they are logged in or have an account with the company.

By not explaining what it did with the data or asking for consent, the company was breaking local privacy laws, argued the Belgian Privacy Commission. And the court agreed.

Facebook has already said it will appeal the ruling, arguing that it has used the cookie for five years and that it helps keep the service “secure” for its 1.5 billion users. It says it discards the data after 10 days.

The decision comes following a tough year for Facebook in Europe. Earlier this year the president of the Privacy Commission said the company’s use of personal data was “disrespectful” and needed “tackling.”

State Department reveals Hillary Clinton received $500K worth of jewelry from Saudi king

Foreign diplomacy doesn’t always resolve world-class problems, but it sure does rake in the swag.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was given a half-million bucks worth of diamond and ruby jewelry by Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and received $58,000 worth of bling from Brunei.

The lavish gifts were among a treasure trove of keepsakes bestowed upon U.S. leaders in 2012, the State Department disclosed Thursday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin gave Clinton a $560 bottle of cognac, while President Obama received an autographed basketball from Chinese President Xi Jiping and a 41-inch saber from Mongolia.

Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden got a bare-breasted female bust from Liberia.

The Constitution prohibits U.S. government employees from keeping presents worth more than $350. But officials at the U.S. General Services Administration said the gifts were accepted to avoid awkward moments.

The GSA said some of the presents were donated and others were sold to the public.

Russian Hackers Prove Election Fraud Against Bernie Sanders

Leaked DNC emails conclusively prove that Hillary Clinton colluded with the Democratic party in order to rig the election and ensure Bernie Sanders would not win the nomination.

The leaked emails posted by Guccifer 2.0, reveals that the former Secretary of State plotted all manner of underhanded tricks to win the Democratic party’s nomination and, ultimately, become President of the United States.

Reports says:–

“Our goals in the coming months will be to frame the Republican field and the eventual nominee early and to provide a contrast between the GOP field and HRC,” reads an email dated May 26, 2015, referencing the former secretary of state by her initials, posted by “Guccifer 2.0” — after the Romanian hacker who allegedly accessed Clinton’s private email server multiple times.

One of the strategies listed for “positioning and public messaging” states,“Use specific hits to muddy the waters around ethics, transparency and campaign finance attacks on HRC.”

As the mainstream largely directed attention to the hack of the Democratic National Committee’s strategy to oppose Donald Trump, this collusion to steer the narrative in Hillary’s favor appears to have gone unnoticed, as US Uncut reported. But this series of leaked emails show a meticulously plotted coordination between DNC narratives touting Clinton, rather than Sanders, as if she had been the presumptive nominee from the outset — precisely as activists and fair elections advocates had suspected.

Pollin Establishes Education Fund

Abe Pollin, Chairman of Washington Sports and Entertainment and the Washington Wizards, have developed the Washington Sports and Entertainment Education Fund to benefit the children who lost a parent or guardian in the Pentagon tragedy on September 11th.

Our country and specifically our Washington area community has been profoundly affected by the events of September 11,” said Pollin. “Perhaps no one will be affected more than the children of those lost in this terrible tragedy. Historically, our organization has focused on education as a community outreach program and we feel that assisting the children of the victims of this tragedy with their future education expenses is the best way we can contribute to the relief efforts.

Irene and Abe Pollin made the first donation of $100,000 to the fund. Wizards star Michael Jordan has matched the Pollins’ contribution in as part of his pledge to donate his 2001-02 salary to the relief efforts.

Obviously our country has changed forever, but nothing has changed more than the lives of the families of the victims of this tragedy,” said Jordan. “This fund is one of several wonderful efforts that will benefit the victims of the September 11th attacks.

Jordan donated the remainder of his salary to other organizations involved in the September 11th relief effort.

Wizards Head Coach Doug Collins donated $500 for every Wizards win during the 2001-02 season, totaling $18,500. Wizards forward Christian Laettner donated $25,000 to the fund, while guard Chris Whitney donated $100 for every three-point field goal he made during the season for a total of $6,600.

Jon Stewart Gears Up For Greener Pastures of The Farm Variety

Jon Stewart recently purchased a farm in New Jersey with the intention of providing a sanctuary for farm animals rescued from cruelty.

The news comes just as the talk show host prepares for the end of his 16-year run on “The Daily Show.”

Stewart has never shied from controversy, especially when it comes to animal rights and environmental issues. He’s ripped apart climate change deniers and factory farms.

Stewart’s commitment to animal advocacy, particular relating to farm animals, comes as no surprise. Earlier this month, Stewart interviewed Gene Baur, president and co-founder of Farm Sanctuary, in which Baur discussed his latest book, Living the Farm Sanctuary Life.

Then, of course, Stewart’s wife, Tracey, is also an avid supporter of farm animals’ rights. She discovered Farm Sanctuary after reading Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds About Animals and Food, Baur’s 2008 account of the conception and evolution of the organization. The book inspired Tracey to reach out. Initially, it was to find stories for her own upcoming book Do Unto Animals, and her magazine, Moomah, but she soon found herself becoming more involved with supporting farm animals. She Farm Sanctuary’s annual Farm Animal Care Conference at their New York Shelter, and brought her children to meet the animals at their Southern California Shelter.

Prior to the Stewart’s new farm purchase, Tracey, a vegan, had gifted Adopt a Farm Animal sponsorships for all of their Thanksgiving guests. Regular visits to the farms are normal for the Stewart children “after homework,” notes Tracey.

“The joy of interacting with animals as friends instead of using them for human consumption is life-changing,” says Tracey in a press release. “A trip to Farm Sanctuary should be on everyone’s to-do list, but you can also bring a little bit of sanctuary home when you sponsor an animal through the Adopt a Farm Animal Program.”

Because of these reasons, the organization has named two rescued sheep Jon and Tracey in their honor. The Stewarts will be further recognized at a Gala on October 24 2015 in New York City.

Looks like Jon will have lots to do on the farm during his “retirement.”

Congrats, Jon and Tracey!

The terminally ill Leicester fan who said the Foxes were keeping him alive loses battle with cancer

We’ve got some sad news to bring you here at Dream Team.

You may remember the story of terminally ill Leicester fan Tony Skeffington, who said the Foxes heroics were keeping him alive.

Unfortunately the story hasn’t got a fairytale ending as the 51-year-old has lost his battle with cancer.

The Australia-based Foxes fan stunned doctors by fighting for over a year with the illness, despite being given just four weeks to live last March.

He cashed out a $20 bet at 3,000-1 and won almost $35,000 – despite him only meaning to put a $2 bet on.

He died surrounded by his three children and wife Donna.

She said: “I got his children and we sat and watched the Leicester game together.

“He did have a bit of a jump up and down out of his seat when Vardy scored. He was not able to walk at that time, so we were shocked when he got up out of his seat.

“He could not say a lot, but his last voice was used watching the Leicester game, wearing his Leicester scarf.

“He used all his energy on the last match. He was talking with his sons and daughter about the refereeing decision and the game.”

Leicester now have one more reason to complete their remarkable season on a high.

Ben & Jerry Say Yes to Weed-Infused Ice Cream

Famed ice cream impresarios Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield declared on HuffPo Live that they’d support making a cannabis-infused version of their sweet treats available where marijuana is legal. “Makes sense to me,” Cohen said, while savoring a bite of ice cream. “Combine your pleasures.” Greenfield stopped short of fully endorsing a Ben & Jerry’s weed-filled flavor; he told HuffPo’s Alyona Minkovski that he and Cohen have had “previous experiences with substances,” and said, “I think legalizing marijuana is a wonderful thing, rather than putting people in jail.”

We all know Ben & Jerry love the herb. Satisfy My Bowl, Cherry Garcia, Half Baked, and, wait for it—the Dave Matthews Band Magic Brownies Encore Edition—have all made their appearance on the company’s famed flavor roster. Clearly, the brand caters to cannabis enthusiasts. A weed-infused ice cream from the masters themselves would certainly be met with approval from ganja gourmands. Perhaps Ben and Jerry could even enter a Cannabis Cup!

10 CEOs Called Out By Bernie Sanders For Taking Trillions In Bailouts, Evading Taxes, And Outsourcing Jobs

Bernie Sanders is the underdog in the American political race, but he’s quickly gaining momentum as a prime candidate to lead the US, as his no-nonsense, candor approach is appreciated by many – especially the millennial generation.

In response to 80 CEOS recently publishing a letter on the Wall Street Journal lecturing America about deficit reduction and urging them to “act on the deficit and reform Medicaid and Medicare,” Sanders had the following to say:

” There really is no shame. The Wall Street leaders whose recklessness and illegal behavior caused this terrible recession are now lecturing the American people on the need for courage to deal with the nation’s finances and deficit crisis. Before telling us why we should cut Social Security, Medicare and other vitally important programs, these CEOs might want to take a hard look at their responsibility for causing the deficit and this terrible recession.

Our Wall Street friends might also want to show some courage of their own by suggesting that the wealthiest people in this country, like them, start paying their fair share of taxes. They might work to end the outrageous corporate loopholes, tax havens and outsourcing provisions that their lobbyists have littered throughout the tax code – contributing greatly to our deficit.

Many of the CEO’s who signed the deficit-reduction letter run corporations that evaded at least $34.5 billion in taxes by setting up more than 600 subsidiaries in the Cayman Islands and other offshore tax havens since 2008. As a result, at least a dozen of the companies avoided paying any federal income taxes in recent years, and even received more than $6.4 billion in tax refunds from the IRS since 2008.

Several of the companies received a total taxpayer bailout of more than $2.5 trillion from the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department.”

Many of the companies also have outsourced hundreds of thousands of American jobs to China and other low wage countries, forcing their workers to receive unemployment insurance and other federal benefits. In other words, these are some of the same people who have significantly caused the deficit to explode over the last four years.

Remaining true to his promise to serve the people as a politician, Sanders responded to the lecture from the American CEO’s by releasing a report detailing how 18 of them have helped blow up the deficit and wreck the economy outsourcing jobs and evading US taxes.

The list of 18 CEO’s follows:

F1 Must Do More For Digital Generation, Says Marchionne

Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne has urged Formula 1 chiefs to change the championship’s approach to digital platforms in order to help attract younger audiences.

F1 has been slow in reacting to the opportunities available online, and has been left behind by American sports in particular, who have embraced younger audiences on social media.

For Marchionne, he thinks the risks of alienating younger fans through not delivering what they want is made worse by F1 having over-complicated rules which can be a turn-off.

“When a person buys a computer you do not ask how many processors there are on the inside, but I appreciate the performance,” he said at the Chinese Grand Prix.

“If I had to explain how you make up a power unit, I’d be here for hours and everyone would be bored.

“For the public we can simplify things, and it is a change that needs to be done. The regulations are too complex. You need an opening closer to the people, and particularly young people.

“But this is a subject that concerns FOM. To bring the younger audience, you need to speak their language, and to give proper attention to the digital world.”
